you can set them to be whatever width you want, I just removed the width constraint to ensure that the sidebar didn't render the forum bit absurdly small
when it didn't need to be.
Since the sidebar is not really very useful here, I didn't show it on forum pages, so I could always return the constrained width to all non sidebar pages easily. |

That's the great thing about the oodles of classes, each page has a body tag with an id, so hiding things per page is easy! I thought they were going to
have the forum id in there too though...

I lost that battle (first round, anyway). They are going to do
forum specific things differently. I still maintain it should be there. Someone might want to make a change on a forum that takes only 3 extra lines of css, and they don't want to duplicate css files uneccessarily. |

a sidebar is just an extra column in which people put stuff - like website details, who the admins are, latest news, anything old random tat they want to!
Go to the main page of this domain, you'll see if squeezed one in there. |

*cough*
I happen to like sidebars and have one on my EzBoard. It contains important links & board info for both regulars and newbies (who can go straight to the FAQs and therefore save us all a lot of time). More importantly I have scrolling newsbar where I announce any new group activities, reminders and the occasional bit of personal news about a member. It's a bit naff but very useful! I hope we will be able to have something similar on Yuku. Presumably this will be possible, with a bit of Javascript or whatever. ?? |

Most sites seem to have them, so I suppose most people like them. I don't much, unless this way where they are just on the front page. :D

The sidebar looks good on the first 'page'. I'm assuming that it can be moved to either or both sides, as before? (I prefer the left side for a sidebar.) Oh, sidebar's can be useful. Some people like them...some don't. You also have to be careful with them as some members don't have large monitors...they're still working with the smaller monitors. So you have to watch the size of the bar and board. I use my sidebar to announce board rules, announcements, odd facts, who to contact when needed....member of the month...stuff like that. This way, members can see this info rather than having to dig through forums and threads.... |

Don't get me wrong I don't mind sidebars that much, I just have to answer a billion questions a month about them. That's why I made the sidebar
wizard, you really can't go wrong with automation!! (Mostly you can't go wrong anyway!)

I'll admit I'm not fond of large sigs - I'm of the school that thinks post content should exceed size of
sig., not the other way round.
I think TICKERS are the naffest thing ever, though. What started off as someone with a ticker countdown to having a baby (somewhat useful) has now degenerated to lists of children's birthdays (can these people not remember their own children's birthdays????), wedding anniversaries (ditto), weight loss targets, holidays and all sorts of other useless and uninteresting facts. I'm sorry, but who really gives a fig about these things? *grumble grumble*
Chris - will there be a scrollbar function in the wizard?? |

LOL I've put in a scrolling text just under the banner.... did it with HTML code in the custom header. :) I just realized I have seen a board on here with a sidebar. Didn't know what it was before. But I have never seen anything in the domain management pages that talks about adding one. Is it a CSS thing? Have never seen the automated editor you talk about either LOL Anyway, don't think I want one, but one never knows for the future. It alwasy helps to know what is available and how to do it. :) |

OK so what I just can't understand is, if you have these wizards, why don't you have links to them somewhere? It was the same thing with the custom
color wizard. Why do we have to find out about them through word of mouth or by reading through old posts?

They are in the Domains FAQ forum
sidebars and a new sidebar generator ezboard custom colours to yuku wizard I'll go through the FAQ forum now actually while I'm not busy and tag the faqs. Might not be able to update them all though. |

Oh and the sidebar wizard will be updated soon(ish) for the new domains. After I get the domain skin editor and ezboard tdf converter done!
