There are three ways to edit the new profiles, and they are: the information in each profile block the layout of the profile blocks the profile skin Definitions: block - the profile is made up of blocks, these include the mini profile, the ad, a google map, comments, friends and custom html blocks for you to add your own information or pictures. layout - the layout is the placement on the page of each profile block. All of the blocks can be enable or disabled , and also moved up and down the page except two - the mini profile, and the ad. All of the blocks except the ad can be edited, and you can also change their headings. skin - a skin is a theme, or look comprising of images, colours, borders, backgrounds, etc. the skin is achieved using html and css (a stylesheet)

domain staff Posts: 78 29 Apr, 2006 09:42	Editing the profile blocks To edit the blocks on your profile, use your usermenu to go to the view profile page. On each block you'll see a link at top right that says edit » (click it!) All blocks allow you to edit the permissions - the permissions tell the system who is allowed to see your each block. The mini profile allows you to change the permissions of each element within it, but the entire block is always visible to all. Only me means that your information is hidden from everyone else. Friends means that anyone who is on your friends list can see it. Friends of friends means that your friends and their friends can see it. Anyone means that it is totally public. Editing the Mini profile In roughly the same layout as on your profile, you'll see the elements that you can edit. To change your avatar, click the button that says change avatar. You'll then get a screen that shows you all the images in your avatar folder. You can also upload a new avatar at this point. There is no way to use an external url. To change the title of your voting section, just type your new title into the box under Vote Title: All the details on the right are self explanatory, fill them in as you see fit. Currently if you are outside the US, you are forced to choose a US state. This is a known bug. You can also set each elements permission setting. Editing the google map Right now, you can't edit the location that shows on the map. It is supposed to be your ISP, but it appears that we are all swimming about near Korea. You can disable this block completely for now! You can also edit the titles and permission setting. Editing my favourites This block is designed to allow you to show your communities and favourite domains. Rather than show them automatically, you pick and choose what you list here - and it can be any website url, not just yuku. Plus (of course) change the title and permission setting. Editing the friends block The friends block allows you to edit the titles and text that is shown on it. Just type new titles into the boxes provide and press save. To manage sorting, you need to go to your friends page via the view my friends link. Editing the recent posts block The comments block allows you to edit the title, and it also allows you to set how many recent posts show up. An advanced feature of this block is that it also lets you remove any posts from the list, so if you've posted something that you don't want everyone to find you can remove it simply by checking the box and saving. This does not delete the actual post, just takes it off your recent posts list. Editing the comments block when you edit this block, you can set your profile to show comments automatically, or wait for your approval. And you can set the titles and permission setting. Editing a custom html block The custom html blocks, which can go in either column are there for you to add your own information and images into. Using the wysiwyg editor, you can add links, images and text. Right now you can't add html, however I have been nagging about this so stay tuned!

domain staff Posts: 78 29 Apr, 2006 09:50	Editing the layout of your profile To edit the layout - ie, the position of each block in your profile, go to the new usermenu (Which is currently only on the profile pages) and open it by clicking navigation. Select layout, which you'll find under the avatar on the left. Now you'll see a page that shows you the blocks that make up your profile. You cannot move the mini profile or the ad, but all of the others can be move up and down, or disabled. To move a block, mouseover it until you see some arrows on the side. Click up or down to move it in that direction. To disable a block, mouseover it then click the square with the cross in it that appears on the side. Or, grab the title bar of any block, and just drag it where you want it. The large blocks remain on the right, and the small ones on the left. They are not interchangeable in that way.

You mean we can't use html in the boxes? I haven't started to mess around, so I didn't know that! I hope they listen to you!

Posts: 11 29 Apr, 2006 14:41	sigh Here's another help topic I'll have to bbookmark. I really want to change the color of the profile, first thing. This bright white background hurts my eyes and gives me a headache--which may account for my extreme crankiness on these help boards. May, but not neccessarily account for the headaches, that is. I think Yuku started them, and the white bckground makes them worse. Thanks, Pink, for the explanaitions. Just when I kind of started to get the hang maybe of the css with the board, they throw this at us.

Posts: 1 29 Apr, 2006 16:02	I found that Navigation area but not layout! When I click Navigation (in any of my three profiles) it just changes the blue (some of it that is) to lime green which goes well with my main avatar. I want to disable the maps so please help!

Posts: 6 22 Jun, 2006 09:04	Oh darn! I had my cute little marqee all ready to display in one of my custom HTML blocks and was wondering why it was just showing the HTML code. Any idea when HTML will be able to be used in the HTML blocks? By the way, "Custom HTML block" is kind of misleading. I thought it meant it was specifically for your own HTML code. A suggestion - you may want to change the name to keep other people from being confused. Just a thought.

super helper Posts: 1766 10 Jul, 2006 13:49 Goddess of Mischief	we'd prefer to get an html button added in, rather than change the name! :) Mahnka, your information does not show to anyone. And if you want to hide the map, just disable it in layout.
