Posts: 1 27 Aug, 2008 17:23	Tags : None Hey guys, I hope you don't mind me asking but I am having a little problem with the main page of my forum, I have re-designed my front page, as you can see from the link to the page in question http://theofficialemmaruggforum.yuku.com/ I have the table of categories, which has a pink table header, the table background is white but on other forum front pages (such as the Welcome Forum, Isolated Impression etc) I have tables which have borders / no border with a gap inbetween so you can the background of the actual whole page. I want to find a way to change my main page so the white table of contents has this gap where the border should be. I've gone through all my CSS( I'm better at HTML unfortunately !) and also have checked the WYSIWYG editor, have played around with all the settings etc etc that I can think of but I can't seem to find a way for it to work. If any yuku-geniuses are out there I would truly appreciate your support indeed With best wishes Emma xoxoxoxox

Posts: 810 28 Aug, 2008 00:00	You have a general boxbody declaration that makes the background white. Hence the table sitting within that showed white. In addition, the background color of the td was not defined. Easily fixed by adding the following two lines to the end of your Advanced CSS. .category-box .boxbody { background: transparent; } .category-box .boxbody table td { background: #fff; }

Posts: 2 28 Aug, 2008 14:27	Wow, this worked straight away ! It is mostly always the case that the problem is so simple yet the solution can be hard to find if you are new to CSS. Thank you so much for your help, it is truly appreciated. I need to get better with the CSS stuff, the moveover from Ezboard to Yuku has not been easy on my board as I had a lot of javascript in banners, glowing text etc so I've set about a total redesign. I have two laptops, both have different sized screens, the banners were designed on my computer with the smaller screen resolution, so when you view the forum with a bigger screen the forum columns and info stretch out but on each page the main banner of course, stays the same width. I would like to make all content on every page fit or stay in the margin of the banner width / size, sounds confusing but I hope you know what I mean, I want the columns and info on each page to have the same width allowed as my banners so that when people with larger screen resolution visit my forum, it looks tidier, as intended etc I guess it would make the tables on each page look smaller on each page instead of them being stretched out because of a bigger screen resolution, but it wouldn't affect the layout when viewed at the screen resolution it was design with !!!! Look for this in your CSS: #wrapper { width: 95%; border: NONE; font-size: 1em; margin: 10px auto; background: NONE; } See where the wrapper width is 95%? That is what causes your forum to be fluid and stretch out on a larger screen. If you put in a static width then it will be the same (except the background) on the other screens. So just change it to something like this: #wrapper { width: 950px; border: NONE; font-size: 1em; margin: 10px auto; background: NONE; } And just adust the 950px till it looks good to you.

Posts: 5 30 Aug, 2008 15:36	Hey Arizona, Nice to hear from you and glad to meet you I will be changing my wrapper width today, thanks for that, I kind of had a look yesterday and in the WYSIWYG editor I played around with the wrapper but wasn't sure if it was the right thing. I have a problem today, redesigning my moderator only forum and I have the same kind of problem as the other day with the transparency of the space inbetween columns and table cells (see 1st post) I want to make it so the actual category table in the moderator forum and the table cells in posts / threads have this transparency but it's not the same code as the main page table, I tried to use that and it didn't work. Any suggestions would be cool ! It's sunny at last Hope you're having a nice Saturday Emma x

Posts: 6 3 Sep, 2008 16:27	Hey Arizona Thanks, I figured it out, I just copied and pasted some code from another forum that had the transparent spaces between the columns and rows, it isn't the same piece of code that is used to get these areas transparent, but I don't know ! Whatever I did it fixed it, the forum is now completely redesigned. Hope you are well Best wishes Emma x
