What this would mean is that if anyone has a questions unrelated to skins they can ask it (or we can move it) into the self help forum.
This forum will not be moderated by staff or mods, but instead if any other members have an idea, they can help each other. If after discussion it seems to be actually a bug, then someone can let me know and I can look into it - or you can tell each other to put in a bug report.
Likewise, if a discussion seems to spawn a well thought out feature that would benefit yuku, then also let me know and I can look into it. Or you might suggest additions or changes to specific pages in the FAQ wiki, or a new page for example.
I know what we all like most about help forum is the back and forth interaction between people. As an art director I used to work with a copywriter, and all our ideas got better and better when bounced back and forth.
Someone might email a mediocre suggestion directly to yuku, but if it had been discussed in the open, that suggestion might have been devloped into something that was actually quite solid and really impressive.
I am thinking that perhaps in the future a whole domain might be better suited to this, maybe it will be official (an official volunteer commity board)... at the moment it's just a thought in my small and overworked brain!
As seen before in the the ezboard suggestions forum, people often get frustrated when their ideas don't get used immediately. This is always going to be the case, not all ideas are technically feasible, and there are other reasons why things won't get taken onboard. Sometimes they are put in a pile for later on, and never get heard of again.
But you've got more chance of being listened to if the ideas are thought through on all levels, and open discussion is necessary for this.
What I'd need are a couple of volunteers to oversee the forum, and also to contact me where necessary bugs or ideas. Staff and mods might well join in with dicussion if things workout well with this idea. These volunteers don't have to answer all the questions, that is open for anyone to do. The volunteer moderators would be there to spot instances when I am needed, or perhaps explain to someone why no-one has answered their question. (And if no-one can answer it, then it should be put into a ticket).
The two new forums would be:
self help - member helps member
suggestions - future features, or changes to existing ones
Who thinks this is a good idea?
