Posts: 28 1 Jul, 2009 16:58	Tags : None Hi. Yesterday as I was perusing the boards, I came across a link you'd posted to someone about 8 steps to doing a skin?? Or something like that. Of course, this morning I can't find at anywhere and can't even remember which group it was in, although I think it was this one. Do you happen to know the link to it (if you have a clue what I'm talking about)?? Or even which group it's in ... here or yuku support?? If not, that's fine ... Posts: 32 2 Jul, 2009 15:59	Good morning (or afternoon ... evening...) I'm playing with the skin and figuring some stuff out. However, a couple of things have me stumped at the moment, one which I had working last night (somehow) and now can't get to work. That would be the generic tables under the "general" tab. I'm sure last night, when I played with this, it gave me the grid for the front page dividing all the forums?? Am I totally confused on that one?? Cause if it did do that last night, I can't get it to work at all this morning (surprise, surprise lol) which probably means it some little thing I'm doing differently. Next, the wrapper. I have one up as I wanted a texture for my background and that was the only way I could see to do it, and it looks fine. But, I can't seem to adjust it's size or put a border on it. If I do try to change it's width it goes really narrow on me. It's always possible (but not probable ) I don't understand what the wrapper is. Is it just a layer that goes on top of the bg layer?? And if so, how do I make it smaller than the bg layer?? Thanks Oh, and then there's onionskins, but I'll worry about them later lol

I do not know very much about the workings of the WYSIWYG skin editor, so I am unable to help with the workings of it but I can advise you what you need to do directly (without using it).

Press the 'edit html' button beside the skin you want to work on. Scroll to the 3rd box (Advanced CSS) and the second selector down is the wrapper. You will need to add some css in to this to give your effect. I know it looks a little different because I broke it into lines instead of one long one. It's easier to read and follow that way and works just the same. #wrapper { border: 25px double #faf9d3; font-size: 1.0em; background: url(http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/b8d264f45a6d3a4a610ec53d2c9c1b0bd760cf95.jpg); width: 90%; margin: 20px auto; padding: 5px; } What that does is: Narrow it a bit. Give it 20px space at the top and bottom and even out the space on either side (center) it. Give a little space inside so the content isn't jammed against it. You can alter the values to suit. Now, you also have this line in your Advanced CSS. .mycontent { width: 90%; margin: 10px auto; } mycontent is a layer contained within the skin itself and sits immediately inside the wrapper. Having sizes in there will most certainly affect the look of what you are trying to do with the wrapper. It could come in useful though. I just don't know what sort of effect you wish. If you take it out for now (delete it), you will see what you are doing with the wrapper. When done, save and go and look. You will see that it has exposed the body background. I don't know if you wanted that or not. You may wish to leave the wrapper with the background on it and transfer the border, etc. to mycontent.

Posts: 37 3 Jul, 2009 21:20	Oh that's great!! That's what I was expecting it to do and didn't. Now, for another question ... you see the areas in white?? Are they not the boxheadings?? I had a link I found showing what the different parts of the page were, and I thought, according to that, that these were the boxheadings. But I can't seem to get the color to change on them from the white and I can't see anywhere where I have chosen white as the color. Make sense?? lol Can you tell me it seems that the bg in here is always changing?? It's just really weird to have different backgrounds popping up. lol Neat, but weird. Is there a way you can set it to do that??

To get ahead, delete the highlighted line about 1/3 of the way down your CSS. .boxheading { text-align: center; font-family: Comic Sans MS, Brush Script MT, cursive; border-top: 3px double #275370; border-right: 3px double #275370; border-bottom: 2px double #275370; border-left: 2px double #275370; padding: 2px; padding-left: 5px; background: url(http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/b5726104696d4ab56f7e09357de31def89c4b0b6.jpg); } That will revert to blue, being the color of your 3rd onionskin. You will then be able to but a background-color in either the box or boxheading. The background in here is not changing. It's known as 'the preview bug'. After you have been previewing a skin, all sorts of weirdness could happen. I usually click out and back in again but I do try and avoid using preview.

I've been getting the "hearts" one sometimes (I think it's one of the optional bgs in here or in yuku support) which was confusing me totally (although that's not very hard to do at the best of times). Hmmmm ... so you can't see my banner?? Oh, okay, after a re-read I see what you're saying I did. Ooooops. Off to fix that!! lol

It you notice at the top, the green (forum holder maybe??) and yellow (boxbody maybe??) are not as wide as what's below them with the blue border (which again is boxbody maybe?? )) I don't see anywhere in my css to change the width and I've tried adding a border but that doesn't seem to make any difference either. Help?? Please???
